Amber eyes seemed to gleam as he laughed. "It's all right, baby. I don't mean anything by it." Standing on a soft patch of sand, Amadi lifted his arm out of the water to point toward the shore. "Ladybug over there, he's got the hots for a certain sky soldier too. Talk about undying, unconditional love."
"You said you have a kid." Blaine opened the beverage and took a sip. "A son?"
Beck's hand flew to the holster hidden under his swim trunks. "Can't you hear them?" he whispered, confusing Fletch's cries for the calls of the mythological creatures.

"Ladybug?" Soara's face filled with an awkward confusion. "You mean the young one near Smitty? He has a...wait a minute...he's attracted to...another guy?" This was a most awkward moment for both Soara and Gunner, since they had never realy encountered such a subject outside of joking. Gunner didn't even reply and sort of slinked into the water and floated on by...
"I have two sons actually," Smitty smiled. "Both of them dream of being like me. Flying out on adventures, and playing the hero. Heh, they never think twice about how hazardous such a life is. They worry thier mother sick, but she's a strong woman."
"That's not a siren," Cain pointed upward at Fletch. "That's her. You should calm down before she gets really upset."
"Fine, take your meat!" RaZarr finally gave in to Dieter.

"Yeah, but it's a secret," he said and put his finger to his lips.
"Do you have faith in them?" Blaine stared his drink for a minute before taking abother sip. "Do you believe they can become these... heroes?"
"I'm sorry," he apologized again. Beck moved away and put both hands in his lap. "I'm afraid I've been 'weird' again, haven't I? I promised him I wouldn't be. But I find it difficult... as you can tell, I'm sure."
"Hey! Thanks buddy!" Dieter exclaimed and bit hungrily into his food, juices running down his face, soaking his mutton chops and beard.

O....K..." Soara tried to shrug off the awkwardness. "I think...lunch is ready." She turned back toward the shore and started to head in. Gunner jumped up out of the water.
"Finally!" He happilly cried and followed after Soara. "I'm starved! Hey, you comming, man?"
"Everyone has the potential for greatness," Smitty replied. "Be it as a hero, or even as a bane. Either way, someone out there will most likely look up to them. It just depends on how motivated they are to achieve that greatness. I believe my sons will reach for their dreams and goals, but unless they have the self drive and determination to achieve them, they will only reach as far as they push."
"But," Smitty smiled widely. "So long as they live under their mother's rule, they'll have to put forth 110%. she won't allow them to slack off. Heh, even I try to live up to her expectations. She is a wonderful woman. She's the foundation of the family and my life."
"Just a little weird," Cain replied. "But I don't see why you can't let go of these concerns. Its pointless to live your life in fear of "What if's" or "Could be's". Such Paranoia will only get you killed in the field."
"I am not your Buddy!" RaZarr growled. he turned to the rest of the group. "If you are eating the cooked slabs, the meat is ready to serve!"

"Yeah, be right there!" After some difficult maneuvering, Amadi made it into shallow enough water where he could walk the rest of the way. "Dieter, you greedy pig! How did you get first cuts?" he barked jokingly.
"You gotta know how to work the chef," he replied with a full mouth.
"It's nice that you think that," Blaine said. He wished his father had been more like this man. He wished his father could have seen the potential in him, rather than brushing him aside. And he wished his mother hadn't pampered him so. Blaine listened to the prosthetic leg creak slightly as the man stood. He watched the others gather around for food, but he stayed in his seat and took another sip.
"Hmm." The crooked smiled fell from his face. "You can blame my parents for that one." Suddenly the smile returned, only a bit more crazed. "Get me killed, you say? On the contrary my dear boy. My 'delusions,' as everyone calls them, make me an expert killer on the field. So long as I outrun them, you know."

Work the chef?!" RaZarr snarled. "More like irritate to the point I would skin you and cook you as a slab, had not I been ordered to "share", as you humans like to pity each other!"
"You also promised you wouldn't ever eat us," Gunner added, joking. "Remember that RaZarr? No eating humans while you're part of this team, right?"
"BAH!" RaZarr spat. "Human meat is as low grade as it gets anyway! Only after boiling it in a stew for several hours can you get the foul taste of it to blend into something worth eating!"
"Great...human cooking tips from the master..." Ibis snorted as he returned to the group. "What's next? Merb Minestrone?"
"Where did you go?" Diaz looked at Ibis.
"I found some herbs unique to this terra," Ibis raised a small bag. "I'm going to send them to Egret to see if she has any use for them medicinal-wise."
"Well, lets get some eats," Smitty slowly rose from his chair, letting his leg adjust to his weight. "When it comes to his attitude, RaZarr's a bit of a stiff, but when it comes to his cooking, its some of the best in Atmos...but don't tell my wife that." He jokingly winked at Blain and moved toward the group.
"So you praise yourself as an expert killer?" Cain's eyes grew a bit more serious. "I don't see why many Cyclonians find that something to be proud of..." Cain's voice trailed off, as he realized his direct statement.

"A lot of other Cyclonians have other talents. This is all I'm good at. And don't worry, Blaine says you aren't the mission." With that Beck got to his feet so he could go eat.
When it seemed everyone had food, Amadi glanced at Blaine still sitting in the sand. "Hey, Ladybug, aren't you gonna eat anything?"
The boy shook his head. "I'm not hungry," he said through a heavy pant. Sweat dripped down the side of his face and soaked into his clothes.

"Hey, are you alright?" Soara knelt by Blaine. "You don't look so good."
"Let me have a look," Ibis approached and looked Blaine over. "This boy looks like he's suffering from a slight case of sun stroke. He needs to get into someplace cooler. Airconditioned, if possible."
"Alright," Soara stood. "Let's get him to the ward."
"Wait, what?!" Ibis jumped up. "You mean take him into the Argo?! Into MY ward?!"
"Um...YEAH," Soara replied. "What ward did you THINK I meant?!"
"Outsiders...in my ward?!" Ibis grimaced, as he looked over the group of strangers. "Filthy outsiders, in my sterile ward?!"
"Its the best place for him to recover!" Soars spat.
"His condition's not even serious!" Ibis stated. "Or critical!"
"Enough of this bicker," Smitty hushed the two. "Take him to the Ward and let him rest. He shouldn't require much treatment other than food and water to help him replenish his strength and stamina."
"You'll be fine, son," Smitty rested his hand on Blaine's shoulder. "If you trust my crew, you'll get the best treatment. Just rest and let yourself replenish you body and spirit."

Blaine leaned away a bit from Soara, not used to this kind of attention. "I'm okay." He felt even more unfomfortable when the Merb studied him so meticulously. "Sun stroke? No I -" The boy was a little offended when Ibis called him filthy, especially when he made it a point to stay as clean as possible due to a phobia. Blaine flinched at Smitty's touch. "I'm fine, really," he insisted. "Don't bother, it's nothing."
"Sun stroke, my hairy ass," Dieter grunted. "The kid's wearing wool pants and a cotton tunic. He's just hot. Go on, Ladybug, take those stupid clothes off." "I don't want to." "For Chrissake, Blaine!" Wolfing down the last of his meat, Dieter walked over to his commanding officer. Once Smitty was out of the way he hoisted the boy up. "What are you doing, Roth? Cut it out! I'm serious!"
Beck lightly tapped Cain's arm. "I'm going for a swim. Do you want to come with me?" The blonde smiled, not seeming to care what was happening with his crewmates. "I'd hate to swim alone, you know?"
He pulled off Blaine's gloves. "Yeah, so am I. We came here to relax and have fun, but you sure as hell can't do it if you don't come out of your shell." Next went the shirt followed by his pants. With the clothes now in a pile in the sand Dieter put the boy back on the ground.
Blaine stood with his arms crossing his chest, each hand clutching the opposite shoulder, and his knees turned inward slightly. He was wearing what appeared to be a pair of dark green boy-shorts. Prussian blue eyes glared angrily. "I hate you so much."
"Damn it Ladybug, you didn't even wear swim trunks?" Dieter chuckled and elbowed Ibis. "Doesn't he have the cutest legs?"

"You see? This is what I'm talking about! Even these people say you undermine me!" He fumbled to get his pants back on. "Why do you constantly insist on humiliating me?!"
Dieter shrugged and grinned. "You make it too easy." "That's enough man." Amadi stepped forward and put his hand on the other's shoulder. "You need to step off."
"Don't give me that crap," the large one growled. "You're just trying to look like the good guy in front of that chick."
"That's not true!" Amber eyes glanced at Soara. As much as he'd like to look like the hero, he really meant what he was saying. "Look man, we may pick on the kid, but there's no point in emotionally castrating him."
"I don't need you defending me." Blaine tripped as he pulled his other leg into his pants. He bumped into Smitty but jerked back before either could lose their balance. "I'm sorry," the boy mumbled and then ran off.
"Oh dear, there he goes. My little Blaine isn't so terrible to look at, you know." The old Merb shuffled up beside Ibis and made a 'tsk' sound at him. She was dressed in her beach attire which consisted of a long yellow sun dress, matching shawl and a straw sun hat.
Beck nibbled on his lip ring. "Why don't you like swimming? Are you afraid of the water?"
