Jeff yelped in surprise and immediately started waving his arm up and down in an effort to get the chicken to let go.
Vezeel meanwhile burst into laughter. "Hahaha, watch out those chickens are dangerous killers."
"Very funny." Jeff replied as he managed to pry the chicken off of his hand.
"I have to do everything around here." Vezeel replied as she grabbed the chicken. She reached into her pocket and pulled out a thin plastic glove.
"Never thought I'd have to do this to an animal." She said as she snapped the glove in place.
A few loud squawks later Vezeel was holding the mystery crystal in her gloved hand. "Now lets see what we've got."

"Ooooh... shiny. Very shiny. And, I think there is no discussion on that point, MINE, yeeees?"
Awnes snatched the crystal from Vezeel's hand and stashed it into the back pocket of her pants.
"Now, I suggest we head off to a crystal specialist, get this thing analized, sold for a packet of cash, *which-you-will-get-a-fair-share-of*, and away, weeeell away from whoever's chasing us. Which... apparently, is the entire Atmos."
Awnes started walking towards the city center, where she had previously noticed a crystal shop. On the way, she asked-
"So... These soldiers... Cyclonians... You were their commander or somethin'? How did that happen? And how are you here?"
She asked as fast as she could, hoping the speed of her speech would maybe dazzle Vezeel into giving her some answers. And hopefully not hiting her.
As they walked cautiously, on the lookout for any sky knight/cyclonians/others, they didn't notice the chicken still seemed to follow.

Vezeel shrugged. "Yeah we used to work for Master Cyclonis. I was put in charge of secret forces and Jeff over there used to be a commander. Oh and get this, he was dating Ravess of all people!"
"I thought for sure he was going to start a civil war when she was banished. If he hadn't become a double agent like me he probably would have." She chuckled slightly.
"You wouldn't happen to know where she is would you?" Jeff suddenly inquired.

Awnes lifted an eyebrow.
"Would I know where Ravess, one of the most feared cyclonian generals, unmatched shot, and somehow... your girlfriend... is? No. Not really.", she snapped.
She muttered something like "that's what I get for asking personal questions, they always give me wacky answers..."
Meanwhile, the trio had arrived at the crystal specialist's shop. It was a clean, white building, rather imposing, with huge glass windows. Awnes entered with a confident step, passed all the shelves and came straight to the crystal specialist. She hadn't even spared a look for the priceless, rare gems around her, as she had never had had an aptitude for crystals.
"Good evening to you, good sir. Me and my friends here happened to stumble accross a rather strange crystals. We asked around town, and we were told you were the best in this business, so... here we are. Can you identify it for us?", she asked, not without a little bit of flattery of course.
"Well... hrmm... Let's see what you have, then."
Awnes splaced the crystal on the metal alchemist's bench. The crystal specialist stooped down and studied it for a second.
"Hmm. Nothing I've ever seen before, looks like it has the combined properties of multiple crystals... or something."
"Can you be a little more.. precise? As in, what does it do exactly?", inquired Awnes. She didn't manage to keep the nervous energy out of her voice.
"I can't possibly tewll you right away! What do you take me for, Piper of the Storm Hawks? Identification takes a long time, sometimes multiple days!"
"WH- What? SUuuurely, you're joking?", she asked, barely keeping herself from screaming.

(Damn I've been busy.)
Vezeel stretched. "Well I don't know about you two but I'm going to go get something to drink." She pulled out her free drink tickets to emphasize her statement.
"Yeah I've been meaning to ask about that." Jeff responded. "I read in the news that somebody had broken into one of that companies warehouses and stole an entire shipment of beer bottles."
"You wouldn't happen to know about anything like that would you?"
Vezeel rolled her eyes. "You're just saying that because the murder of that detective guy was linked to me. I had NOTHING to do with that."
Jeff just looked at her with a bored expression. "I find that hard to believe."

Awnes raised an eyebrow, and meant to ask for more information, but she closed her open mouth, deciding against it.
"So. Hmm. Yeah. Let's go drink. Look, we'll be at a nearby bar, come and get us when you're done with the crystal, m-kay?", proposed Awnes to the crystal specialist.
"I hope you're ready to drink for a while then, because this process is going to take at least a few hours.", declared the old man.
Awnes gave a sidelong glance at Vezeel and Jeff.
"That's not going to be a problem.", she dryly announced.

"Well what are we waiting for?" Vezeel asked impatiently. "Lets go get a drink."
"Can we trade some of those in for food money? I haven't eaten all day." Jeff inquired.
Vezeel held the tickets close to her. "No way, these are for emergencies only!"
"This is an emergency, we're starving to death."
"No" Was all Vezeel said.
"Give me those damn tickets." Jeff pounced on Vezeel and tried to pry the tickets from her hands.
Vezeel was about to shove him off when she noticed the position they were in. "I'll give them to you under one condition."
Jeff looked down and saw that he was straddling her waist. He knew exactly what she was talking about. "Alright fine." He finally replied. "I'll find a way to make it up to you."
Vezeel kissed him on the cheek and handed him the tickets before standing up. "Ok, which way to the nearest bar?"

Awnes raised an eyebrow, thought about asking her question, then decided against it. These two were definitely stranger than first accounted for.
"Well, I'm also new to the city, but I think I saw a lighted sign on our way to the crystal specialist...", muttered Awnes.
They retraced their steps, and arrived in front of what Awnes had at first glance taken as a bar. They immediately noticed something- it wasn't a bar. If the little wooden sign above the open door was to be trusted, they were standing in front of "Miss Pudding's Tearoom." On the door was nailed a polite little message, but Awnes couldn't help but shudder when she caught sight of it. So much threat was conveyed into "Proper wear is compulsory."
Awnes cleared her throat, embarrassed for a reason unknown to her.
"Should we... ah... go in?", she proposed, eyeing the cushioned chairs inside with barely-concealed mistrust.

"Tea? Who drinks that disgusting crap?" Vezeel responded with a look of disgust. Tea was almost as nasty as that"What do you think Jeff?
Jeff shrugged. "I say we go in and try to get something to eat."
"Alright then, lets get something to eat."

Awnes pushed open the glass doors, and a little tinkling bell sound greeted her. She winced. All this reminded her too much of her grandma.
"Hullo there. Do you have sandwiches we can-", started Awnes.
"Yoou-ooo.", mused a strange voice.
Awnes spun, and came face to face with the man in black, holding a cup of tea, a shocked expression on his face. He didn't have his goons with him. Awnes understood at once. Why search for escapees when you can have the goons do it? The man in black had simply waited for their results at... the tearoom.
Without much additional though, Awnes grabbed a nearby teapot and dumped its boiling contents on him. The man in black looked down at his now-stained shirt. He wasn't screaming. Just wincing slightly.
"That was my favooorite shirt.", he growled.
Awnes would have chuckled at the cliche, pathetic phrase, had he not suddenly pulled a gun out of his belt.
"DUCK!", she screamed
She dived to the ground, grabbing his feet, while gun shots rang through Mrs. Pudding's Tearoom.

When the gun went off everybody dove to the floor. Except for Vezeel who was clutching her now bleeding left arm, a pained look on her face.
"Damnit! Not again! Jeff, do something about this guy."
Jeff immediately complied as he scrambled to his feet and pointed his sword directly at the mans head.
"Move and I'll melt your face off."
